What the record says
The two headline numbers are $12 and $19, and the $12 needs an asterisk that Constant Contact's own page supplies: every plan is worded as 'starting at'. Lite starts at $12 a month, Standard at $35, Premium at $80, and all three climb with your contact count. GetResponse is more forthcoming — its page says prices are bracketed by list size, 'starting at $19 per month for unlimited messages to 1,000 subscribers.' You know what you are getting for $19; you have to look up what you get for $12.
Annual billing narrows the gap from Constant Contact's side. Its pricing toggle shows Lite at $10.20 a month billed annually and Standard at $29.75, a saving of about 15%. GetResponse discounts harder: Starter falls from $19 to $15.58, Marketer from $59 to $48.38 and Creator from $69 to $56.58, roughly 18% across the ladder.
Where they genuinely diverge is what the upper tiers are for. GetResponse climbs into marketing automation, segmentation and ecommerce — the tooling of a business that sells online. Constant Contact climbs into channels: its Premium plan bundles 500 SMS messages a month, and its FAQ says SMS can be added to Lite or Standard from $10. One is deepening what you can do with email; the other is adding a second way to reach people.
The fact that settles it for a lot of readers is not on either company's comparison page. On the same day, GetResponse quoted €16 in Germany and £13 in the United Kingdom where it quoted $19 in the United States. Constant Contact quoted $12 in the United States and the United Kingdom, and €12 in Germany. So both localise, but not in the same places: a German reader compares €12 against €16, cleanly, in one currency; a British reader weighs £13 against a Constant Contact price still printed in dollars, and needs the rate on the day.

GetResponse: $19 a month for unlimited messages to 1,000 subscribers, stated on its own page. Constant Contact: 'starting at $12/month' with no list size named in the same sentence. Both scale with list size; only one tells you where the ladder begins.

Constant Contact's toggle shows Lite at $10.20/mo and Standard at $29.75/mo billed annually, around 15% off. GetResponse discounts about 18%: $15.58, $48.38 and $56.58 for Starter, Marketer and Creator.
SMS
Constant Contact Premium includes 500 SMS messages a month; SMS can be added to Lite or Standard from $10 a month by its own FAQ. We recorded no SMS offering on GetResponse's ladder. If texting customers is part of the job, this decides it.
Currency changes the ranking
GetResponse quoted $19 in the US, £13 in the UK and €16 in Germany. Constant Contact quoted $12 in the US and UK and €12 in Germany. Both localise, but not in the same markets — Constant Contact holds its dollar price for British readers while GetResponse drops to £13 — so the ranking genuinely changes by country.

Which is cheaper?
It depends where you are, which is not a dodge. In the United States, Constant Contact's $12 starting price undercuts GetResponse's $19. In Germany it is €12 against €16 — the same ordering, and comparable in one currency. In the United Kingdom GetResponse drops to £13 while Constant Contact holds $12, so that one turns on the exchange rate on the day you pay.
Why does Constant Contact say 'starting at'?
Because its plans scale with the number of contacts you hold, so $12, $35 and $80 are floors rather than prices. Its page uses that wording for all three tiers. We quote the floors it publishes and check them at the tiers we can read; you should check yours at your own contact count before signing up.
Does GetResponse do SMS?
Not on any tier we recorded. Constant Contact includes 500 SMS messages a month on Premium and its FAQ says SMS can be added to Lite or Standard from $10 a month. If you need a second channel rather than a deeper email tool, that is the difference that matters.
