Flodesk vs Constant Contact: a design tool against a channel business

OUR PICK

Our pick: Constant Contact on breadth — it starts at $12, and it is the only one of the two that can text your customers.

Constant Contact's ladder starts at $12 a month against Flodesk's $25, and its Premium plan at $80 includes 500 SMS messages a month, with SMS addable to the cheaper plans from $10. Flodesk does email and does it beautifully; it does not offer a second channel at any price.

The other way: Pick Flodesk if the look of the email is the point. Its ladder is also remarkably flat — Lite $25, Pro $28, Everything $54 — so growing into more capability costs three dollars where most competitors charge triple. For a visual brand with a modest list, that is a better-value climb than Constant Contact's $12 to $35 step.

How to read this page: every number below was read from the vendor’s own public pricing page on the date shown, and the pages are re-checked daily. Currencies differ because that is what each vendor showed an EU visitor. Some links on this page are affiliate links — if you subscribe through one we earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. Per our method, that never changes a number or a verdict. Source links always point to the vendor’s plain page.

Correction. Corrected 2026-08-29, hours after publication: this article originally said Constant Contact quotes US dollars in every market. Our own three-region read on the same day shows it charging €12 / €33 / €75 to a German reader against $12 / $35 / $80 to an American — so it does localise, and the German figures are lower in number as well as in currency. The error was ours, not the vendor's, and it is the exact mistake this site exists to catch.

What the record says

Constant Contact has been selling email to small businesses for two decades and its pricing shows it: three plans starting at $12, $35 and $80 a month, all worded on its own page as 'starting at' because they rise with your contact count. Flodesk publishes flat, specific figures for a specific list size — for up to 1,000 subscribers, Lite $25, Pro $28, Everything $54, or $19, $25 and $49 on annual billing.

At the bottom rung Constant Contact is cheaper. Higher up, the shape reverses. Constant Contact's second plan nearly triples the first, $12 to $35; Flodesk's second plan adds three dollars, $25 to $28. If you expect to need more than the entry tier, Flodesk's climb is far gentler, and its own page frames Pro as its most popular plan rather than an upsell.

The feature that most often decides this pairing is not email at all. Constant Contact's Premium plan includes 500 SMS messages a month at no extra cost, and its FAQ states SMS can be added to Lite or Standard starting at $10 a month. Flodesk has no equivalent. A restaurant confirming bookings or a salon reminding clients is not choosing between these two on the strength of a template gallery.

Flodesk quoted US dollars to our readers in all three markets. Constant Contact did not: $12 in the United States and the United Kingdom, but €12 in Germany, with Standard at €33 against $35 and Premium at €75 against $80. The comparison above is therefore the US one; a German reader is shown different numbers in a different currency.

Beyond the price tag

Entry price, and what it means

Constant Contact: 'starting at $12/month' for Lite — a floor that rises with contact count, in its own wording. Flodesk: $25 a month for Lite at up to 1,000 subscribers, stated explicitly with the list size attached. One is cheaper; the other tells you what you are buying.

How the ladders climb

Constant Contact: $12, $35, $80 — the second plan is nearly triple the first. Flodesk: $25, $28, $54 — the second plan is three dollars more. If you outgrow the entry tier, Flodesk's next rung is the cheapest step in this category.

SMS

Constant Contact Premium includes 500 SMS a month; SMS can be added to Lite or Standard from $10 a month by its own FAQ. Flodesk offers no SMS. For a business that reaches customers by text, this ends the comparison.

Design

Flodesk's editor and templates are the reason it exists, and for brands that sell on how things look they are a real differentiator rather than a nicety. Constant Contact's editor is competent and nobody has ever chosen it for beauty.

Questions people actually search

Which is cheaper?

Constant Contact at the entry rung — $12 a month against $25 — but its figure is a floor that climbs with your contact count while Flodesk's is stated for a named list size of 1,000. Above the first tier the comparison narrows sharply, because Constant Contact's Standard is $35 and Flodesk's Pro is $28.

Does Flodesk still have unlimited flat pricing?

No. Flodesk's own pricing FAQ says the flat-rate unlimited plan was retired for new members on December 2, 2025, and pricing now scales with active subscriber count. The three-tier ladder above is what replaced it.

Can Flodesk send text messages?

No. Constant Contact includes 500 SMS a month on Premium and sells SMS as an add-on to its cheaper plans from $10 a month. If a second channel is part of what you need, Flodesk is not competing for the job.

Do these prices apply outside the United States?

For Flodesk, yes — the same dollars in London, Berlin and the United States. For Constant Contact, not in Germany: our Berlin read returned €12 / €33 / €75. Read the currency column above against your own country before comparing either with a figure you found elsewhere.

THE VERDICT, ONE MORE TIME

Our pick: Constant Contact on breadth — it starts at $12, and it is the only one of the two that can text your customers.

Every figure above was read from each vendor's own pricing page in a browser on the dates shown beside each table, from United States, United Kingdom and German addresses in turn. Constant Contact publishes its plan prices as 'starting at' figures that rise with contact count; we quote the starting figures its page states and do not estimate higher brackets. Flodesk's three plans are quoted verbatim from the sentence on its page naming prices for up to 1,000 subscribers. The method →
