What the record says
Kit's free plan runs to 10,000 subscribers. Flodesk's cheapest plan is $25 a month, for a list one-tenth that size. Those two facts, both taken from the vendors' own pricing pages on the same day, do most of the work in this comparison — and no amount of feature-table detail changes the arithmetic for someone with 3,000 subscribers.
So the real question is what Flodesk is charging for, and the honest answer is the editor. Flodesk built its reputation on templates that look designed rather than assembled, and for brands whose product is visual, an email that looks like the shop is not a cosmetic detail. Kit's editor is capable and plain. Neither company disputes this framing; it is essentially their pitch to different people.
Flodesk's ladder is also unusually flat, which matters if you outgrow the entry plan. Lite is $25, Pro is $28, and Everything is $54, with Flodesk's page describing Lite as limited to one workflow automation and Pro as its most popular plan. Three dollars to lift the automation limit is a cheaper step than anything in this category. Kit's step is steeper: Creator is $33 a month at 1,000 subscribers and Pro is $66.
One structural difference is worth knowing before you commit.
